About PostDoc Fellowship Program: Dr D Y Patil Institute of Management Studies have established the Post-Doctoral Research Centre in association with the Council for Sustainable Peace and Development which is incorporated by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India in pursuant to sub-section (2) of section 7 of the Companies Act, 2013 and rule 18 of Companies Incorporation Rules, 2014 (CIN: U72N00RJ2021PTC07837). This is a unique program of 2 years with several opportunities to upskill and enhance the research across the disciplines of Management and Social Sciences. This is an excellent opportunity to upgrade the academic credentials and research forte in academics.

Objective of the Post-Doctoral Fellowship Centre (PDF Centre)

  • The objective of PDF centre is to provide opportunity to carry out the advanced studies and research in Management, Social Sciences, Humanities, Technology and related subjects.
  • The Post-Doctoral Fellowship Centre aims to identify and motivate researchers and provide them necessary support for research in frontier areas of Management, Technology and related areas.
  • The Post-Doctoral Fellowship Centre also endeavours to publish the research in highly acclaimed National/ International Journals of repute.
  • The Post-Doctoral Fellowship Centre will develop a meaningful network with the Industry both locally and at the national level and work in tandem with them to establish purposeful Industry-Academia engagements.
  • The Post-Doctoral Fellowship Centre will be open to admit the researchers from both National and International arena.

Eligibility for Applying Post-doctoral Program

  • The candidate – India or Foreign National, must have a doctorate degree in last 5 years in the relevant subject preferably with published research work to their credit. (Provisional degree certificate may be accepted if degree is not yet awarded subject to final award of the PhD degree.)
  • Candidates who have submitted their Ph.D. thesis are also eligible to apply. However, they will be receiving admission letter only after receiving all required documents regarding their Ph.D. degree.
  • General category candidates having minimum 55% of marks or equivalent percentage converted from CGPA score at Post graduate level are eligible to apply. A relaxation of 5% of marks is allowed for reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/ PWD (Persons with Disabilities) and Transgender).

Age Limit

The upper age limit for Post-Doctoral Program is 55 years at the time of the submission of application. (As on the date/ last date of application). There shall be age relaxation for SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/Women/PWD (Persons with Disabilities) and Transgender for 5 years.

Selection Procedure

The postdoctoral programme will have the admission process batches commencing from the month of July or January of each year. A selection Committee shall be constituted for selecting the Post-Doctoral fellows, in the light of appropriate standards.

Constitution of Selection Committee

  • Principal/ Director/ Head of the Institute which has been authorized by the Council (CSPD) to establish the Post-Doctoral fellowship Centre.
  • Two Experts who are working as post-doctoral guide/ mentor (of relevant subjects).

The screening cum selection committee will interact with the applicant to ascertain his/ her interest in pursuing the post doctorate and recommend the candidate for admission if found suitable. The evaluation includes the candidate's accomplishment at the Ph.D. level. If the candidate has already applied for Post-doctoral Program and has been declared as unsuccessful, he/ she is permitted to apply again with new research proposal only after one year from date of declaration of result for that Post-Doctoral Program. Incomplete applications such as un-formatted documents, false/ misleading information etc. shall be summarily rejected.

Post-doctoral Fellows Tenure

The appointment of Institute Post-doctoral Fellows is for period of 2 years that can be extended to a maximum period of another 1 year based on the approval of the Chairman of the PDF centre that is Director/ HOD/ Principal of the Institute. In deserving cases PDF thesis/ final report even can be submitted after the completion of 1.5 years subject to approval by the Select PDF committee so appointed by the Center to consider the same. The institute will finally allocate the guide to Postdoctoral fellows based on the outcome of the Expert Committee recommendations on the topic and area of their interest. PDF fellow should have had detailed discussion on the title of Research with his guide before finalization of the topic. PDF scholars will also have Industry Mentors who can be referred/ chosen by the scholars or will be allotted by the PDF centre from its pool of Industry Mentors.

Who can Guide/ Mentor a Post-Doctoral Fellows

  • The Guide / Mentor should have good research credentials
  • The eligibility for the postdoctoral Guide will be with completion of minimum 5 years after award of their PhD degrees and to have minimum total academic or industry experience of not less than 10 years.
  • Subject Matter Expert Mentors from the Industry should have at least 10 years industry experience with the flair for research.

Merit based Scholarship

Selected candidates will be eligible for the merit-based scholarship. Decision of Merit based scholarship shall be taken by the committee constituted by the Principal/ Director/ Head of the Institute authorized by the council. The following scholarship is offered by D. Y. Patil Institute of Management Studies to all the students as per their research potential and performance at the interview.

Work Assignments

  • Post-Doctoral fellow need to conduct the research in the subject in which he/ she has been awarded with the PhD degree. Post-doctoral research shall be extension of research done while pursuing PhD degree but with different title/ topic.
  • Post-Doctoral fellow shall be required to present and submit six monthly progress reports every six months.
  • The Fellow shall undertake academic responsibilities such as occasional lectures – minimum 10 hours teaching assignment per year.
  • It is obligatory that the Post-doctoral fellow publishes at least one research paper per year in a reputed peer reviewed/ Indexed journal.
  • Post-doctoral fellow may submit the Postdoctoral research work after completion of 1.5 year (in certain cases subject to approval by the select committee appointed by the PDF Centre) to 2 years.
  • Post-doctoral fellow will be eligible to use library and all online databases required for research work available at the PDC.
  • After the completion of the research work, a fellow must submit three copies of the report of the research work done which will be evaluated by a duly constituted committee having an external member from a reputed institution/ organization.
  • Based upon the recommendation of the evaluation committee and open defence viva, a Certificate to this effect on successful completion of the Program mentioning the period and relevant research area will be issued to the candidate by the PDF Center and the Council.

Outcome of Programme

  • It will be mandatory for research scholars to publish at least 2 research papers in Scopus/ ABDC/ ABS indexed journals
  • The research outcome of the PDF program should produce a Model or Framework in the respective areas of Specialization. This model may be patented or copyrighted as an intellectual property.
  • Submission of Postdoctoral Thesis to the Institute

Cancellation of Award

The award is liable to be cancelled in the following cases

  • Any false information furnished by the applicant
  • Misconduct of fellow
  • Unsatisfactory progress of research work of the awardee
  • Any fraudulent activity by the fellow
  • Violation of terms and conditions of these guidelines
  • Plagiarism or unethical practices, in any form

The research center in DYPIMS follows the rules laid down by Savitribai Phule Pune University for admission into the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.).

A candidate desirous of taking admission needs to appear for the test conducted by University Departments or Research Centres authorized for the purpose. No separate test will be conducted for other affiliated colleges/recognized institutions.

The list of candidates declared successful in Paper-l will be published by the P.G. Admission Section of the University. Results of Paper-2 will be declared by the respective University Department/Research Centre and a copy of the same will be sent to the P.G. Admission Section of the University. Candidates will have to mention the University Department/Research Centre of their choice for the admission. The interview and the guide allotment will be done as per the rules for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)
